Introduction
Himalayan pink salt is one of the world’s purest and most sought-after natural salts. It is extracted from the ancient Salt Range of Punjab, Pakistan, particularly the famous Khewra Salt Mine. Formed approximately 250 million years ago through the evaporation of an ancient inland sea, it remained protected beneath layers of rock, preserving its natural purity.

Geological formation
The salt deposits were created after prehistoric seawater evaporated. Over millions of years, tectonic activity buried them under mountains, creating highly compact crystalline salt protected from modern pollution.
Mining locations
Major mining areas include Khewra, Warcha, Kalabagh, Bahadur Khel and Jatta.
Chemical composition
Primarily sodium chloride (97–99%) with naturally occurring trace minerals including calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc, manganese, copper, phosphorus and sulfur.

Mineral: halite · formula NaCl · cubic crystal system · Mohs hardness 2–2.5 · specific gravity ~2.16 g/cm³ · highly soluble in water.
Colour grades
White, light pink, standard pink, dark pink and red.
